Jessica's Farewell Talk

It's official! Jessica's farewell talk will be on December 27, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. We invite everyone to come. She'll be speaking in our home ward at the Little Valley Stake Center on 1762 S. River Road.

The New Moon Event

It's no secret that Kelsie and Jessica are Twilight fans. And after seeing Twilight last year, I too have read the books and enjoy the series. Here's the story on our midnight premiere of New Moon, and how I became known as the greatest mom on the planet.

Jen rushed home at lunch to tell Jess that people were already lining up at the theater. Jessica arrived at 12:30 and was #69 in line!
She camped our for a while and then Kelsie and I came to join her and keep her company.
Jen made us a few gallons of hot chocolate to share with all our new friends in line. (Quick side note: we met two people who have sons going to the MTC the same day as Jessica.) Also, to make this day longer...I accidentally took my Ambien that morning instead of my regular pill, so I was just a little tired...
I left for Relief Society, so Lamar came to sit in line with Jessica since they were insisting that most of the party had to be represented. I came back later so I could save Kelsie's seat in the theater since they seated everyone early. Yes...that's right! I SAVED Kelsie's seat. I DID NOT GO at midnight, which is why I'm the greatest mom on the planet! When she got there after her high school musical, I went home to go to bed.

Jess was so excited to win this shirt. She made enemies when she caught it, but she doesn't care. She says she'll take it for pajamas on the mission.
Finally, on the Monday after opening weekend, I went with Jessica to go see New Moon! It was such a fun show! I enjoyed it as much as it was built up to be. And I would definitely go see it again (hopefully without obnoxious teenage girls behind us screaming for Jacob).

Jessica's Temple Trip

Our family has had a bit of excitement lately. Jessica received her mission call and will be serving in the California Fresno Mission (aka The Lord's Vineyard). With the arrival of her mission call came a trip to the temple for her endowment. Jessica's two favorite temples are Salt Lake and San Diego, so we decided to make a trip to San Diego so she could have family time before she leaves. And with Lamar's suggestion, we made a couple stops along the way.

We first stopped in Vegas to see Lion King. I didn't love it, but the girls and Lamar loved it. We also stopped at several outlets on the way to San Diego as we began the never-ending quest to find cute sister missionary clothes.
The San Diego Temple was so beautiful! It was kind of funny because we ran into some neighbors from St. George while we were there. Jessica also saw one of her friends from Provo who was there for a wedding. What are the odds?
Kelsie and Jessica. Kelsie did baptisms while we were in Jessica's endowment session. It was really neat to have her there since the two of them are so close.

We went to Sea World after the temple since it's one of my favorite places to go. The girls and I fed the dolphins.

The whale show was my favorite part! And I guess Jeremy helped make the video for the daytime show "Believe," so he warned us about the obnoxious music. We almost bought him the dvd, but figured he wouldn't really appreciate it.

We really had a great trip. Jessica said it couldn't have been more perfect. We found lots of the clothes she needed, we had a fun getaway, and best of all...Jessica has finally received her endowment--something she's wanted for a long time. We're all so happy for her and are excited for her mission.
